    #DIY freezer paper stenciling

Hi guys! So back in 2015 I found some Pinterest craft using freezer paper and I still love it. Freezer paper is versatile in that its great for food storage and a ton of surprising crafts. If you’re looking to pick some up check in the area that carries wax paper and tinfoil. While freezer paper does have a waxy side like tradition wax paper, it is different. One of my favorite ways to use freezer paper is by creating a stencil. You can print off designs or sayings online. My rose design is something I drew a couple years ago and decided to do another one. Whatever you decide…

    Gingham crop tie top #s8655

Hi guys! After making my gingham skirt I had the fabric laying around (literally on the ground, don’t judge me) so I figured I would make something else with it. I had recently picked up Mimi G Style pattern s8655 with Simplicity featuring a tie top. Love those for summer. When I first started I had the intention of keeping on the 3/4 length sleeve but as you can see I just left it at the drop shoulder. I love how this turned out and i definitely have plans to make another top in this style. I cut out a size 6 from the pattern. Usually I trace my patterns…

    DIY gingham button skirt

Hi guys! So today’s pattern hack was inspired by my fascination with online ‘window shopping’, Revolve ILY. I came across this chic-y deeky gingham skirt with a high slit and buttons, it was love at first sight. I realized it was an easy DIY too since I had all the materials on hand. I had no similar patterns so I opted for simplicity 8420 as a starting point. I cut the back pieces of the skirt out as usual. I extended the length of all pattern pieces to reach my knee. On my inspo skirt, the front right piece crosses. I cut the right side of the skirt out on…

    Spring Pastels featuring McCall M7786

Hi guys! The snow has been melting and the weather is slowly warming up here. I think I’m with many people when I say I’m ready for spring! It feels so nice that the days are finally starting to get longer. It won’t be too long before the bright flowers bloom. Until then I am cheering myself up wearing pastels. I actually sewed these pants up in January, but I never blogged about them until now. Since I finally wore them outside today I thought I would get some pictures. For some fabric and sewing deets keep reading. I got the fabric at Walmart and it was very inexpensive like…

    DIY button dress using M7406

Hi guys! Today I’m showing you my latest pattern hack. After seeing so many button dresses online I thought this would be a fun DIY. Who doesn’t love a good wrap dress? Well, I am sure there are some people but maybe the button detail can convince non-lovers. For my dress pattern I used McCall’s pattern M7406 although you could apply this concept to any wrap dress pattern. When I visit my mom in Arizona we go out and do the touristy things and eat at amazing restaurants. But one of my favorite things to do is go out shopping at thrift stores. During my last visit we were doing…

    McCall’s #M7719 Spring Dress

I was doing some ‘window shopping’ aka browsing on my phone at an online retailer (I think it was Revolve, love them!) and I saw a gorgeous RTW lace dress. What I love about sewing is I can create what I want, and usually for a lot less than the designer costs. Sewing really allows me to become the designer by choosing my cut and fabric choices. I saw this gingham floral fabric from my favorite Ebay fabric seller and I knew I just had to have it. As soon the fabric arrived and I finished my last sewing project it was onto this dress! I decided on M7719 for…

    Make Nine

I was inspired by the Instagram community of makers to take part in the Make Nine movement. For my make nine I decided to focus on sewing, although the make nine can be for anything you plan to create. I enjoy looking through all the amazing creations makers show on instagram. I have acquired quite the collection of fabrics over the last year, but I have been hesitant to start sewing with them. Being mostly self taught I haven’t thought my skills were up to par to cut into some of these fabrics I love so much. However, skills are only gained through experience, so here we go! I have…

    DIY Watercolor Christmas Cards

Today I wanted to share these Christmas cards I DIYed. I enjoy making personal cards for friends and family, but I don’t have a lot of time to spend painting them. I knew I wanted to keep the design simple, hello ornaments! Those are easy to watercolor. I also wanted these cards to say something like ‘Happy Holidays’ but my handwriting isn’t great so I opted to look for a stamp. I found the perfect ornament stamper from Michaels craft stores that combined everything I was looking for.  Materials used:  Craft cards (Hobby Lobby) Gold stamp ink (Hobby Lobby) Ornament stamp (Michael’s stores) Watercolor paints and pencils Paint brushes Metallic…
