I had bought the fabric off of eBay last year and was waiting for the right project. For the pattern I used Cora McCalls 8034 because of the beautiful puff sleeves. My newest make is this Hawaiian style shirt made from the coolest linen from Mood Fabrics. I love this style of shirt and when I saw the fabric online I knew that’s what I wanted to make. The pattern I used is from McCall’s m7629 in view A. Instructions on this suggest using a fabric with a fluid drape like a challis, this linen has a much crisper hand. But I like how the stiffness of the fabric accentuates the boxyness of the top. For the thread I was deciding between navy and white, but decided on the white. Hi everybody! The second blog post this week featuring thrift store fabric! Much wow. This pastel fabric was one I found when I purchased the red dress material from my last post. Hi everybody! I’m doing a bit of summery sew my stash to use up some of these wonderful fabrics I’ve been hoarding. The red fabric was another thrift store find, can’t beat the price! And surprisingly my thrift store fabrics have been equally as nice as the materials I pick up in traditional fabric stores. White summer skirt DIY midi
Hi everybody! For this project I found the fabric, a shirred white cotton, at the thrift store. After buying it (and a good wash) I was inspired to make a skirt. The design of the skirt is very simple, I didn’t use a pattern just my measurements. I measured around my hips (at my widest point) and added an allowance of 3in. To measure the length I started at my waist, the top point where I wanted my skirt to sit, and measured down to mid calf area, also adding 3in. Hi guys! So back in 2015 I found some Pinterest craft using freezer paper and I still love it. Freezer paper is versatile in that its great for food storage and a ton of surprising crafts. If you’re looking to pick some up check in the area that carries wax paper and tinfoil. While freezer paper does have a waxy side like tradition wax paper, it is different. Hi guys! After making my gingham skirt I had the fabric laying around (literally on the ground, don’t judge me) so I figured I would make something else with it. Hi guys! So today’s pattern hack was inspired by my fascination with online ‘window shopping’, Revolve ILY. I came across this chic-y deeky gingham skirt with a high slit and buttons, it was love at first sight. I realized it was an easy DIY too since I had all the materials on hand. I had no real plan. All I knew is I was going to sew something and it would be beautiful. The embroidered white crepe was my first choice when I looked through my stash. I couldn’t resist this fabric when I saw it on Ebay. When I first saw it I imagined a dress, but another embroidered fabric will find me when I’m ready for that.
