    Simplicity Pattern Review #S8742

This is not the first time I’ve reached for this S8742 Pattern. I have a previous post on the waterfall style, but this time I went for the collar version. This plaid wool blend fabric is from Joann, I found it around this time last year. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be in stock anymore. When I first purchased the fabric I had the Ilford jacket in mind. Love the look of that pattern but I surprised myself and went for the longer line S8742. Looking at some street style on Pinterest, I saw a babe wearing a plaid longline coat and it sold me on the idea. Pattern fit…

DIY lace up two piece using #M8034

Hi everybody! Thank you for reading along. Today I am sharing how I made this two piece set out of a dress pattern. I wanted to create something flirty and feminine inspired by the fabric. I had bought the fabric off of eBay last year and was waiting for the right project. For the pattern I used Cora McCalls 8034 because of the beautiful puff sleeves. Bodice Starting with the puff sleeve I cut those on the petite length. After that, the bodice pieces 1 (upper front) and 4 (lower front) were not cut on the fold to allow the lace up front. I am confident of my sizing before…

    Aloha #m7629

My newest make is this Hawaiian style shirt made from the coolest linen from Mood Fabrics. I love this style of shirt and when I saw the fabric online I knew that’s what I wanted to make. The pattern I used is from McCall’s m7629 in view A. Instructions on this suggest using a fabric with a fluid drape like a challis, this linen has a much crisper hand. But I like how the stiffness of the fabric accentuates the boxyness of the top. For the thread I was deciding between navy and white, but decided on the white. The pale yellow buttons are from my mom’s old sewing collection.…

    Red dress set #s8635

Hi everybody! I’m doing a bit of summery sew my stash to use up some of these wonderful fabrics I’ve been hoarding. The red fabric was another thrift store find, can’t beat the price! And surprisingly my thrift store fabrics have been equally as nice as the materials I pick up in traditional fabric stores. Bright red isn’t a color I own a lot of, unless its red lipstick then Im down. So when I picked this fabric up I immediately thought of simplicity 8635. Maybe its because the pattern features a red outfit on the front, but I mostly wanted to sew that strappy back. I actually had to…

    Gingham crop tie top #s8655

Hi guys! After making my gingham skirt I had the fabric laying around (literally on the ground, don’t judge me) so I figured I would make something else with it. I had recently picked up Mimi G Style pattern s8655 with Simplicity featuring a tie top. Love those for summer. When I first started I had the intention of keeping on the 3/4 length sleeve but as you can see I just left it at the drop shoulder. I love how this turned out and i definitely have plans to make another top in this style. I cut out a size 6 from the pattern. Usually I trace my patterns…

    Velvet Clutch Tutorial

When I was doing some fall fabric shopping I saw this green velvet at Hobby Lobby and fell in love. This fabric gives me all the holiday vibes and I knew right away there were several sewing projects I wanted to make with it. I decided to make a rectangular clutch since I have a ready-made faux suede clutch in the same style that I always reach for. I spent a little extra on a metallic zipper from Joann Fabric and added zipper tabs because I love those little details. I adore the way this clutch turned out. In the outfit pictures below you’ll see I used my clutch for…
