    Simplicity Pattern Review #S8742

This is not the first time I’ve reached for this S8742 Pattern. I have a previous post on the waterfall style, but this time I went for the collar version. This plaid wool blend fabric is from Joann, I found it around this time last year. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be in stock anymore. When I first purchased the fabric I had the Ilford jacket in mind. Love the look of that pattern but I surprised myself and went for the longer line S8742. Looking at some street style on Pinterest, I saw a babe wearing a plaid longline coat and it sold me on the idea. Pattern fit…

    DIY Knit Set #s8738

Hi everybody! Thank you for joining me. Today I’m finally sharing this knit set I made. This project started with the turtleneck. I saw a RTW cropped style with flared sleeves and I had to make it. Inspo for the top is the Janice sweater by Lovers + Friends. I adore sets so the skirt was a quick addition. The metallic knit fabric used for this project was from the thrift store last year. Turtleneck For the turtleneck I used Simplicity 8738 in size XXS. This pattern does run large as it’s meant to be over sized. I’ve made this pattern almost exactly two years ago right after I started…

Welcome to the world pastel #s8655

Hi everybody! The second blog post this week featuring thrift store fabric! Much wow. This pastel fabric was one I found when I purchased the red dress material from my last post. I always seem to have good luck finding fabrics 😉 or they find me. The pastel fabric only had about 1 1/2 yd. There was a lot I wanted to make with this fabric. However, the size and the sheerness stopped me from going too crazy. Looking through my patterns I opted to go with a Mimi G Style #s8655. I’ve made this tie top pattern once before in a gingham, its featured on the blog! I decided…

    Red dress set #s8635

Hi everybody! I’m doing a bit of summery sew my stash to use up some of these wonderful fabrics I’ve been hoarding. The red fabric was another thrift store find, can’t beat the price! And surprisingly my thrift store fabrics have been equally as nice as the materials I pick up in traditional fabric stores. Bright red isn’t a color I own a lot of, unless its red lipstick then Im down. So when I picked this fabric up I immediately thought of simplicity 8635. Maybe its because the pattern features a red outfit on the front, but I mostly wanted to sew that strappy back. I actually had to…

    Gingham crop tie top #s8655

Hi guys! After making my gingham skirt I had the fabric laying around (literally on the ground, don’t judge me) so I figured I would make something else with it. I had recently picked up Mimi G Style pattern s8655 with Simplicity featuring a tie top. Love those for summer. When I first started I had the intention of keeping on the 3/4 length sleeve but as you can see I just left it at the drop shoulder. I love how this turned out and i definitely have plans to make another top in this style. I cut out a size 6 from the pattern. Usually I trace my patterns…

    DIY gingham button skirt

Hi guys! So today’s pattern hack was inspired by my fascination with online ‘window shopping’, Revolve ILY. I came across this chic-y deeky gingham skirt with a high slit and buttons, it was love at first sight. I realized it was an easy DIY too since I had all the materials on hand. I had no similar patterns so I opted for simplicity 8420 as a starting point. I cut the back pieces of the skirt out as usual. I extended the length of all pattern pieces to reach my knee. On my inspo skirt, the front right piece crosses. I cut the right side of the skirt out on…

When the flowers bloom wrap top #S8608

I had no real plan. All I knew is I was going to sew something and it would be beautiful. The embroidered white crepe was my first choice when I looked through my stash. I couldn’t resist this fabric when I saw it on Ebay. When I first saw it I imagined a dress, but another embroidered fabric will find me when I’m ready for that. For the pattern I opted for Simplicity 8608. The size 6 fits my bust well. I extended the length of the bodice about 7in to make it a proper blouse. I thought the flutter sleeves complemented the delicacy of the fabric. The salvage edge…

    DIY Oversized Turtleneck using #S8738

Inspired by fall colors I was shopping for fabric on Ebay. I was specifically looking for a mustard knit. This gorgeous knit fabric came up listed as dark mustard, logan thinks it looks a bit more pumpkin and I may agree with him. Either way I really love that the neutral tone will go with everything in my closet. For my pattern I used Simplicity 8738. I cut out view B which has the option of thumb holes, I opted out of adding those. I debated between the size extra small and small. I ultimately cut out the size small, but the extra small may have been better. This sweater…

DIY Gingham Fleece Jacket using Simplicity 8704

It’s no secret that once fall rolls around I just want to curl up with something cozy. I knew when I felt this luxe fleece at Joann Fabric Stores I wanted to make a half zip jacket. I know I’m not the only one who loves these, fuzzy jackets are always in style through fall and winter. This jacket will definitely take me through fall, winter, and a PNW spring. I snagged some great simplicity patterns from a hobby lobby sale. I used the pattern on the right, Simplicity 8704 for this gingham fleece jacket. The pattern on the left will be for a future project 😉 For 8704 I…
