Today I wanted to give you guys a little tour of my sewing space. I am very grateful to have the space I do. And trust me I understand those that are low on space. There was a time where I did all my sewing on my dining room table and ironing in the hallway. Although, the label of the space doesn’t matter near as much as how you feel in it. Maya Dress Pattern Review
This is my second time making the Maya Dress. The first one you can find on my Minerva post. This project actually began with the fabric. My sunny red daisy fabric I purchased together with the fabric for my last wrap dress. The fabric is a rayon poplin by Telio Brand. Since I’ve been craving red I knew I wanted to use it soon. I found this gorgeous burnout type organza from Joann Casa Collection. Like shadows from a palm tree, this black leaf detailing gives me vacay vibes. This piece was on clearance and doesn’t look to be in stock anymore. Firstly it was difficult to decide what to make. This fabric would be beautiful so many ways. Wrap Dress M7406
I’m so ready for summer. And with that summer dresses. I ordered some floral rayon poplin prints from Telio brand and pulled out my favorite M7406. Since I love the ease and simplicity of wrap dresses. Also, the fabric for this project ‘Picasso‘ in teal has been lovely to work with and wear. I didn’t need to line it which I always appreciate. For the dress I cut out view ‘B’ in a size 6. My measurements are currently Bust: 31in Waist: 24in Hip: 34in and I’m 5’2″. gingham set pt 2
I sewed this little gingham top to go with my skirt last summer and honestly thought I had blogged it. Like something out of a fever dream. Or that’s just how last year felt. The skirt is a 2019 make but I do have a separate blog post about it here. For my quick crop top I used the bodice from McCalls 8034. Hi everybody! Thank you for joining me. Today I’m finally sharing this knit set I made. This project started with the turtleneck. I saw a RTW cropped style with flared sleeves and I had to make it. Inspo for the top is the Janice sweater by Lovers + Friends. I adore sets so the skirt was a quick addition. The metallic knit fabric used for this project was from the thrift store last year. Hi everybody! Thank you for reading along. Today I am sharing how I made this two piece set out of a dress pattern. I wanted to create something flirty and feminine inspired by the fabric. I had bought the fabric off of eBay last year and was waiting for the right project. For the pattern I used Cora McCalls 8034 because of the beautiful puff sleeves. My newest make is this Hawaiian style shirt made from the coolest linen from Mood Fabrics. I love this style of shirt and when I saw the fabric online I knew that’s what I wanted to make. The pattern I used is from McCall’s m7629 in view A. Instructions on this suggest using a fabric with a fluid drape like a challis, this linen has a much crisper hand. But I like how the stiffness of the fabric accentuates the boxyness of the top. For the thread I was deciding between navy and white, but decided on the white. Hi everybody! I’m doing a bit of summery sew my stash to use up some of these wonderful fabrics I’ve been hoarding. The red fabric was another thrift store find, can’t beat the price!
