    gingham set pt 2

I sewed this little gingham top to go with my skirt last summer and honestly thought I had blogged it. Like something out of a fever dream. Or that’s just how last year felt. The skirt is a 2019 make but I do have a separate blog post about it here. For my quick crop top I used the bodice from McCalls 8034. I save all my scrap fabric, which is annoying storing it, but this project is a good reminder why I do that. For the m8034 I used the bodice and midriff pieces till the waistline. I sewed a size 6 and interfaced all my pieces, but I…

    DIY Party dress using #m7654

Hi everybody! I hope everyone is staying safe. I’m not celebrating any holidays in person this year buuuut if I was I would be wearing this dress. One of my favorite things to do as a child was play dress up. I still enjoy that even if I have nowhere to be right now. If you follow along on my IG you’ll already know this dress is based off the Russian label Larne. Even though I don’t need a party dress I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I can’t deny what my heart desires. For the pattern I used McCall’s 7654 in the strapless view and fabrics I bought at…

Welcome to the world pastel #s8655

Hi everybody! The second blog post this week featuring thrift store fabric! Much wow. This pastel fabric was one I found when I purchased the red dress material from my last post. I always seem to have good luck finding fabrics 😉 or they find me. The pastel fabric only had about 1 1/2 yd. There was a lot I wanted to make with this fabric. However, the size and the sheerness stopped me from going too crazy. Looking through my patterns I opted to go with a Mimi G Style #s8655. I’ve made this tie top pattern once before in a gingham, its featured on the blog! I decided…

    Red dress set #s8635

Hi everybody! I’m doing a bit of summery sew my stash to use up some of these wonderful fabrics I’ve been hoarding. The red fabric was another thrift store find, can’t beat the price! And surprisingly my thrift store fabrics have been equally as nice as the materials I pick up in traditional fabric stores. Bright red isn’t a color I own a lot of, unless its red lipstick then Im down. So when I picked this fabric up I immediately thought of simplicity 8635. Maybe its because the pattern features a red outfit on the front, but I mostly wanted to sew that strappy back. I actually had to…

When the flowers bloom wrap top #S8608

I had no real plan. All I knew is I was going to sew something and it would be beautiful. The embroidered white crepe was my first choice when I looked through my stash. I couldn’t resist this fabric when I saw it on Ebay. When I first saw it I imagined a dress, but another embroidered fabric will find me when I’m ready for that. For the pattern I opted for Simplicity 8608. The size 6 fits my bust well. I extended the length of the bodice about 7in to make it a proper blouse. I thought the flutter sleeves complemented the delicacy of the fabric. The salvage edge…

In all the old familiar places..ft. New Look 6560

I’ve had Billie Holiday’s “I’ll be seeing you” stuck in my head. Something about this shirt gave me nostalgic vibes. So this love story starts, I was on Ebay and found a rainbow stripe cotton voile fabric. Totally gorgeous and my style. But it was shipping from India. Extra shipping charges? Import fees? No thanks. So I looked online shopping within the states. I found these cool toned and warm toned striped cotton voile from Mood Fabrics. I knew I wanted to do a wrap top so I picked up a New Look 6560 pattern from Joann Fabrics. This pattern is notoriously short on the midriff. Most reviews for this…

    McCall’s #M7719 Spring Dress

I was doing some ‘window shopping’ aka browsing on my phone at an online retailer (I think it was Revolve, love them!) and I saw a gorgeous RTW lace dress. What I love about sewing is I can create what I want, and usually for a lot less than the designer costs. Sewing really allows me to become the designer by choosing my cut and fabric choices. I saw this gingham floral fabric from my favorite Ebay fabric seller and I knew I just had to have it. As soon the fabric arrived and I finished my last sewing project it was onto this dress! I decided on M7719 for…
