I had no real plan. All I knew is I was going to sew something and it would be beautiful. The embroidered white crepe was my first choice when I looked through my stash. I couldn’t resist this fabric when I saw it on Ebay. When I first saw it I imagined a dress, but another embroidered fabric will find me when I’m ready for that.
For the pattern I opted for Simplicity 8608. The size 6 fits my bust well. I extended the length of the bodice about 7in to make it a proper blouse. I thought the flutter sleeves complemented the delicacy of the fabric. The salvage edge of the fabric is what I used for my waist tie. I used French seams for everything. I’m a bit obsessed with those lately. The French seam works so well with this type of fabric and the methodical process of sewing them soothes me.
Its interesting the value I place on the clothes I made compared to ones I’ve bought. I’m almost hesitant to wear this because I would hate to spill on it. Where as other tops I wouldn’t care, it’s just a blouse, whatever. But the time, effort, and love that went into this top makes it special to me.
