    Simplicity Pattern Review #S8742

This is not the first time I’ve reached for this S8742 Pattern. I have a previous post on the waterfall style, but this time I went for the collar version. This plaid wool blend fabric is from Joann, I found it around this time last year. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be in stock anymore. When I first purchased the fabric I had the Ilford jacket in mind. Love the look of that pattern but I surprised myself and went for the longer line S8742. Looking at some street style on Pinterest, I saw a babe wearing a plaid longline coat and it sold me on the idea. Pattern fit…

    Persephone Pants Review

Hello! New blog post for you all today on the Persephone pants by Anna Allen Clothing. I bought this pattern last October, but I had a couple concerns that kept me held off. First, my body was fluctuating sizes last fall. And second the sizing starts a little larger than my natural waist. So anyways I will show you guys how I sized these to fit me. This is my first pair, a ‘wearable toile’ so there will be some adjustments made to future pairs, but a good starting point. Sizing & Fabric I went with the size 0 and graded down from there. The 0 waist measures 26 3/4in,…

    Sewing Room Organization

Today I wanted to give you guys a little tour of my sewing space. I am very grateful to have the space I do. And trust me I understand those that are low on space. There was a time where I did all my sewing on my dining room table and ironing in the hallway. Although, the label of the space doesn’t matter near as much as how you feel in it. Happy spaces are creative spaces. I am most content when I am out in nature. Probably why my favorite color is green. With that, I wanted to create a space that felt like a garden. Somewhere my creativity…

    Maya Dress Pattern Review

This is my second time making the Maya Dress. The first one you can find on my Minerva post. This project actually began with the fabric. My sunny red daisy fabric I purchased together with the fabric for my last wrap dress. The fabric is a rayon poplin by Telio Brand. Since I’ve been craving red I knew I wanted to use it soon. I originally planned a cute button up dress but this easy slip dress won out. This is a piece I will be wearing all summer. Pattern & Sizing The Maya dress pattern is from Papercut Patterns. It can be made as a cami, knee length or…

    #M8139 Pattern Review

I found this gorgeous burnout type organza from Joann Casa Collection. Like shadows from a palm tree, this black leaf detailing gives me vacay vibes. This piece was on clearance and doesn’t look to be in stock anymore. Firstly it was difficult to decide what to make. This fabric would be beautiful so many ways. However, I got the last two yards so that limited me. Ultimately, I went for M8139. For that on the beach at 6 and dinner by 7 look. Pattern Starting off with the pattern, I cut out a size 6. Usually, I base my fittings from the finished garment measurements and have no problem. This…

    Venus

I’ve been obsessed with the Birth of Venus since I was a kid. My dad had an art book with that Botticelli painting and I remember being fascinated by it. Her hair, her freedom, the sea. I love it all. The revival of the Renaissance style fashion inspired me to create this. The fabric I purchased from Spoonflower. One of the main reasons I love Spoonflower is you can get any print on several different types of fabric. I chose a chiffon fabric for a lightweight flow. I bought 6 yards of the fabric. Also my ‘dress’ is actually a two piece set because I like the variety. For the…

    Wrap Dress M7406

I’m so ready for summer. And with that summer dresses. I ordered some floral rayon poplin prints from Telio brand and pulled out my favorite M7406. Since I love the ease and simplicity of wrap dresses. Also, the fabric for this project ‘Picasso‘ in teal has been lovely to work with and wear. I didn’t need to line it which I always appreciate. For the dress I cut out view ‘B’ in a size 6. My measurements are currently Bust: 31in Waist: 24in Hip: 34in and I’m 5’2″. The pattern I have goes up to a size 14 with a Bust of 39in and a Hip of 41.5in. But it…

    gingham set pt 2

I sewed this little gingham top to go with my skirt last summer and honestly thought I had blogged it. Like something out of a fever dream. Or that’s just how last year felt. The skirt is a 2019 make but I do have a separate blog post about it here. For my quick crop top I used the bodice from McCalls 8034. I save all my scrap fabric, which is annoying storing it, but this project is a good reminder why I do that. For the m8034 I used the bodice and midriff pieces till the waistline. I sewed a size 6 and interfaced all my pieces, but I…

    DIY Party dress using #m7654

Hi everybody! I hope everyone is staying safe. I’m not celebrating any holidays in person this year buuuut if I was I would be wearing this dress. One of my favorite things to do as a child was play dress up. I still enjoy that even if I have nowhere to be right now. If you follow along on my IG you’ll already know this dress is based off the Russian label Larne. Even though I don’t need a party dress I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I can’t deny what my heart desires. For the pattern I used McCall’s 7654 in the strapless view and fabrics I bought at…

    DIY Knit Set #s8738

Hi everybody! Thank you for joining me. Today I’m finally sharing this knit set I made. This project started with the turtleneck. I saw a RTW cropped style with flared sleeves and I had to make it. Inspo for the top is the Janice sweater by Lovers + Friends. I adore sets so the skirt was a quick addition. The metallic knit fabric used for this project was from the thrift store last year. Turtleneck For the turtleneck I used Simplicity 8738 in size XXS. This pattern does run large as it’s meant to be over sized. I’ve made this pattern almost exactly two years ago right after I started…
